Capturing idiosyncratic details within my frame ...

I’m a New Mexico photographer interested in capturing the unique details and patterns in life. My interest in photography began when I was twelve and received my first camera – a Kodak Instamatic 104. Seeing the world through my camera’s tiny viewfinder fascinated me.

I studied technical theatre production and stage set and lighting design, receiving my M.F.A. in Scenery and Lighting Design from the University of Iowa. Documenting my design work continued my fascination with capturing specific moments of a production using the theatre’s proscenium to frame my images.

My training in stage set and lighting design is the foundation for how I approach photography. Stage productions are comprised of hundred’s of pictures depicting individual moments within a play. Using available light I employ this same strategy capturing specific moments of what I see.
